Italian Quarter Residential Complex

The Italian Quarter at 4 Fadeeva Street is one of the earlier premium residential developments in modern Moscow. Its location only a few dozen metres from the Garden Ring placed particular demands on the project. Seven exclusive buildings, ranging from two to nine storeys, form a composition reminiscent of a Roman amphitheatre. Architect Mikhail Filippov is said to have drawn inspiration from the Theatre of Marcellus beside the Tiber in Rome. The facades combine a granite plinth, zones of marbled Jura Limestone and rendered surfaces. Jura Beige appears with a honed finish and selected striped-texture inserts. The complex was fully completed in 2013; the accompanying photographs show that the Jura stone has remained in good condition.
