About the project
Kasarmikatu 21 is a new office and business complex in central Helsinki. Built on the site of a demolished government building, it is a striking example of contemporary architecture whose interiors and exteriors use high-quality natural stone, timber and glass. The building houses the headquarters of the international law firm Roschier, founded in 1936; the location, execution and occupants speak for themselves. The light, natural character of Jura Limestone continues through the interior. Two-centimetre-thick strips of Jura Travertine are used for floors and internal wall cladding. Together with timber and glass, the stone creates a coherent, elegant atmosphere in the public areas. The slabs were fixed to a supporting system using Fischer undercut anchors.
