Central Children's Store on Lubyanka

The renewed interior of the Central Children's Store on Lubyanka occupies a building completed in 1957 to a design by architect Alexey Dushkin. The store closed for restoration in 2008 under the direction of Moscow developer Hals Development. The reconstruction project was created by architect Pavel Andreev together with UNK Project. The atrium is finished in natural beige Jura Limestone with honed and polished surfaces. The stone complements the generous atmosphere of the landmark department store and brings variation and dignity to its principal public space. Rare fossils visible in the atrium walls give the flagship interior a unique historical dimension.
