Some aspects of physical and technical properties of Jurassic limestones. Part 4

Good day, dear visitors of our website. Continuing the topic of the physical and technical properties of Jurassic marble and taking into account the information already presented on this subject, we would like to emphasize the differences among Jurassic stone itself. As has been said earlier, Jurassic marble (marmorized limestone) lies in a large deposit near the earth's surface over a fairly large area. Extraction has been carried out for more than 150 years, and the actual reserves of Jurassic marble, from the perspective of extraction prospects, are not limited for the next 30-50 years.

The specificity of the occurrence of Jurassic marble is expressed by its layered nature, and accordingly its blockiness and extraction methods are determined. We have already mentioned that historically up to 30 layers of Jurassic marble are distinguished, however one should clearly distinguish the areas of application of each layer in construction use. Jurassic stone visually prevails primarily in beige shades. Roughly speaking, taking into account the surface treatment, the color spectrum scale of beige Jurassic marble lies between almost white Jurassic limestone and dark walnut Jurassic stone. Below is a photograph visually showing this gradation.

It is also worth noting that along with beige marbles, in the Jurassic there are also gray Jurassic stone and gray-beige Jurassic stone. Commercial names vary depending on the enterprises that offer them on the market, but the essence is the same.

The photograph above clearly shows, in contrast, Jurassic marbles of beige and gray colors. It should, however, be clearly understood that along with the fact that both of these stones can be used on facades precisely in the conditions of climatic zones II B and higher, there are certain nuances when choosing Jurassic marble directly for a facade. We will talk about this in the continuation of our series of articles about Jurassic stone.
